When writing a syllabus, there's this twinkling idea that I could craft it in such a way that would predict and pre-solve every problem that could come up. Like I'm some Prime Mover, setting the first object into motion so perfectly that the rest of the semester unfolds. Exactly. As. It. Should.

And then.

It begins.
